Primary schools’ forum yields positive results in Eldorado Park

Principals putting their heads together to make schools better in Eldorado Park and Klipspruit.

Principals from primary schools within Eldorado Park and Klipsprut West gathered at Eldocrest Primary School in Extension Seven for a meeting aimed at addressing the various needs of pupils and schools in these areas. The meeting started

The meeting started with a maintenance company who pledged to plough back into schools which they service, in the form of school shoes and uniforms donated to needy children.

The Department of Social Development (DSD) representatives that were present outlined the services available to schools, especially in high-risk areas with regards to a number of social ills which plague communities and also finds a way into school environments.

In light of recent incidents in  the community, principals showed their support to the DSD with aims of working together with assisting pupils affected by issues such as; rape, child abuse, bullying and a number of other serious issues which affect pupils.

Peter Rafferty, ward 17 councillor was notable in his absence from the meeting, but the principals gathered were assured that he had made his apologies.

This was a concern as principals wished to address instances where Extended Public Works Programme employees were found to have been asleep on school premises.
