LDAC pray to tackle drug abuse in Meadowlands
"There is still hope for the Meadowlands youth to stay away from drugs"
Meadowlands Local Drug Action Committee (LDAC) held a prayer session at Bapedi Hall in Meadowlands Zone 2 asking the almighty to help the youth of Meadowlands who are battling with drugs.
According to the Deputy Chairperson of LDAC Sebenzile Shabalala, there was a need to involve church members because drugs and substance abuse are becoming a major problem in Meadowlands.
“We shall continue involving the church in our fight against drugs.”
Meadowlands police captain Thinadavha Lufhugu was one of the guest speakers during the prayer session.

The causes of drug abuse were highlighted during the session mainly being unemployment, domestic violence, child abuse, poverty, peer pressure and corruption from police officials who work together with drug dealers.
Pastor Thomas Mpye from AME church said that the fight against drugs is not the fight of the flesh but the fight against principalities.
“Our land and lives today need deliverance. We must repent and ask god to forgive us.
“We need to repent as the nation before we can ask god to forgive us,” he said.
Mpye said that the youth must stop listening to the other people and rely on Jesus.
