UPDATE WITH VIDEOS: Eldos community joins hands in search for missing boys
Boys missing under mysterious circumstances
The Eldorado Park community is in an uproar following the disappearance of four young men under questionable circumstances in mid- to late February.
Added to the missing list are Jeston Maskew (22) and Thato Hansen (22), missing since February 24.
According to Eunice Hansen and Hilda Moses, parents of the two, they disappeared after leaving their Kersiedorp homes with a close friend Mark Harvey.
An unconscious and severely beaten Harvey was found a few days later along Marlborough Avenue by a passerby who alerted police to his condition. He was transported to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for treatment.
Dereleen James, community activist and Local Drug Action Committee member, said, “The extensive nature of his injuries required 72 stitches on his head and other injuries were two broken arms and a broken pelvis.”
His two friends have still not been found and Cheryl Pillay and James have mobilized the community to assist with searching in open fields for possible places where evidence may be found which could provide answers to the circumstances of their disappearance.

James, Pillay and other community leaders have called on Joburg City Parks to clear overgrown fields which could be used to dump the bodies of victims and in the commission of muggings, rapes, and murders.
The recent rains have left many fields overgrown which many feel are a contributing factor to these types of crimes in Eldorado Park.
A third missing man is Llewelyn Wallenstein who has still not returned home after an alleged mob justice attack on February 18.

A search at Marlborough Avenue generated bloodstained clothing which was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for investigation.
The Eldorado Park SAPS have been approached by the LDAC team and the Community Policing Forum to assist the families in treating the investigation as an extraordinary case which demands that all available resources are roped in to ensure that this does not set the tone for further disappearances.
Our children are our most valuable assets and no parent alive would be able to sleep at night knowing that their child is out there, possibly hurt or killed.
These families seek closure and it is this lack of closure which is the cruelest and unusual punishment they are experiencing not knowing what has happened to their loved ones.
