WATCH: No tap for Kekana Village as fire rages on

'No option but to wait for EMS'.

Kekana Village shack dwellers narrowly escaped death after a blaze engulfed the settlement this morning. According to reports, the blaze is said to have been started by a tenant who was evicted.

A resident, Pinky Mokgwetshe said that she called Emergency Management Services (EMS) immediately after the fire started and their slow response had inhabitants attempting to douse the flames.

Mokgwetshe added that there is only one communal tap which is quite a distance away and they had no option but to wait on EMS as the fire continued to rage.

Fortunately, no lives were lost in the inferno but the people looked on helplessly as their belongings were consumed in the fire.
