Eldorado Park Police success stories
Police effected a number of arrests for violent crimes in the first week of May.

A 23-year-old male suspect was arrested for being in possession of a stolen motor vehicle on May 5 at about 10.20 pm. According to police, they acted on a tip-off regarding a stolen Toyota Quantum in Freedom Park.
During a patrol to find the vehicle, police spotted the car which had crashed into an outside toilet in Freedom Park. Further investigation revealed that the registration number and colour matched the description of the vehicle which was reported stolen.
The man who is believed to have stolen the vehicle was found in the driver’s seat and placed under arrest by police. He is due to appear in court on theft charges.
In an unrelated incident, a 52-year-old man was arrested on a charge of attempted murder. According to the police report, the victim, who was travelling by car on his way home, heard gunshots going off at about 1.50 am. The bullets shattered his rear window and he realised that someone was shooting at the vehicle he was travelling in.
Fortunately he did not sustain any injuries. Freedom Park residents who were able to identify the shooter alerted police who arrested him. The man is due to appear in court and will face a charge of attempted murder.
With winter fast approaching, residents are urged to be vigilant at certain ill-lit areas in Eldorado Park as these provide ideal cover for criminals to hide in as they select their next victims.
A 25-year-old man was arrested on May 4 at approximately 5.50 pm and will face charges of robbery with a firearm. According to the victim, four men approached him while he was walking along Sirkel Road in Extension Five.
One of the men pointed a firearm at him and the gang proceeded to rob him of two cellphones before fleeing. The robbery victim gave chase and apprehended one of the men before calling the police.
The robber was placed under arrest and detained at the Eldorado Park Police Station holding cells and will face serious charges when he appears in court.
On the same day at about 8.10 pm, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm after attacking the victim with a padlock.
Witnesses say that the woman hit the victim on the head and that the attack left the victim with multiple gashes. The attacker was arrested and is expected to appear in court on assault charges.
