Ramaphosa tackles youth unemployment
Focus on youth unemployment as President Ramaphosa addresses Soweto youth
President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered the keynote address of the youth day commemorations in which he addressed some of the challenges facing youth today such as unemployment.

“The challenge for unemployed youth is not only one of skills. There are many graduates, who have completed university degrees, who are still unemployed. This is a vast pool of skills and knowledge that is being wasted,” the president said.

He appealed to both corporate and government to make a concerted effort to decrease graduate unemployment.
Earlier this year, he launched the Youth Employment Service which is a private sector initiative supported by government which aims to soften the vast differences between work and school.

Moving forward, the president has promised his administration will focus on bringing in youth centered investments.
Youth celebrations continue throughout Soweto as residents commemorate the brave efforts of the youth of 1976 who took a stand against the Bantu education system on June 16.
