Mr and Miss Uniform are the pride of Emshukantambo
These learners received goodies from different companies.
A shirt, tie and blazer may not be the ingredients for their favourite outfit, but to these learners, wearing their uniform is a badge of pride, creates an identity for their school and is an important part of being school learners.
Emshukantambo Secondary School in Pimville teaches and encourages learners to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance by awarding and recognising those who go all out to look beautiful in their school uniform.
On Friday, July 27, the school held a Mr & Miss Uniform 2018 event at their school, with the help of Mo-Afrika Ithlokomele, Moripe Holdings, Grassroot soccer, Spur Maponya Mall, Brooklyn Brothers, Geleza-Nathi, the School Governing Body (SGB) and the teachers.
Neo Klaas was crowned Miss Uniform 2018, Nelly Moloantoa as the 1st princess and Mandisa Nongalaza as the 2nd princess. For the boys, Menzi Maduna was crowned Mr Uniform 2018, Mohau Pitso as the 1st runner-up and Bonga Tshabalala as the 2nd runner-up.
These learners received goodies from different companies mentioned above, these include, tablets, trophies, vouchers and more.
According to Pule Hlahane, a teacher at Emshukantambo, recognising these learners will help the school manage the issue of neatness and uniform as this will drive more learners to wear school full school uniform at all times.
“These learners were fairly voted for by their fellow learners and were not just judged on one day, but they were observed from the day they entered the competition.
“They made sure that they look beautiful each day they come to school, and this gives me hope that Emshukantambo Secondary will ultimately have learners that love and take pride in their school uniform,” said Hlahane.
“We want to make this bigger and we are hoping for potential sponsors to assist the school with our next event,” he added. It is not just about academics, Uniform matters also.
