MPs to be sworn in this week

It’s going to be a busy week in SA as the new government will be put in place.

The establishment of the 6th Parliament of Republic of south Africa will be in full swing this week. While the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa is scheduled to take place this coming weekend, new members of the National Assembly and Delegates of the National Council of Provinces will start making their way to Parliament from tomorrow.

Their swearing in is expected to commence on Wednesday and Thursday. On May 15 Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng handed over to Parliament a list400 designated National Assembly members who will make up the 6th Parliament.

The Chief Justice is also expected to preside over the swearing in of MPs on Wednesday where the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will also be elected. The election of the president by Members of Parliament will take place on Wednesday afternoon as well.
