Three men arrested by the Eldorado Park police for common robbery, an assault to cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) and bribery

A 54-year-old male suspect was arrested on Friday, June 21 for common robbery. Constable Fezeka Khobo, who is the communications officer at the Eldorado Park police station said that it is alleged by the complainant that she was walking along Boundary road with her friend when they were approached by an unknown suspect who unexpectedly grabbed her bag.
“In the bag were valuable goods as well as an undisclosed amount of money,” said Khobo.
‘’It is alleged that the suspect was carrying a sjambok and ran into a nearby house, threatening the complainant not to follow him, however, the complainant persisted and followed the suspect, that is how the suspect was arrested on the spot for Common Robbery and will appear in court soon,” she added.
In another incident, an assault to cause Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH) case was opened against a 35- year-old male suspect on Thursday, June 20. “Allegations point out that the complainant was at home when she received a call from the suspect, asking her to send him money via E-wallet, the complainant then dropped the call,” said Khobo.
“The suspect arrived at the complainant’s home when he was intoxicated and assaulted the complainant. A case of assault GBH was opened and the suspect was arrested and will appear in court as well,” Khobo added.

In another incident, a 41-year-old male suspect was arrested for bribery along the Golden Highway. It is alleged that while a police officer was on duty, he stopped a taxi driver.
“Faults were noticed by the police officer such as excessive plugs on the steering wheel, no park brakes, no seatbelt clips, no fire extinguisher, no triangle, the door did not open from outside and the seats were loose and torn,” said Khobo.
“When the police officer was about to charge the suspect, the suspect suggested they should talk. He asked the police officer what he wanted.
“The suspect continued saying that he will give the police officer cold rink and immediately took out the money from his pocket and gave it to the police officer.
“The officer then took the money and showed it to his colleague as evidence and proof that he has been offered a bribe.
“The suspect was arrested on the spot for bribery and exhibit handed in as well and will appear in court soon,” Khobo concluded.
