Diepkloof declares war against Eskom outages
Gauteng Eskom spokesperson Reneiloe Semenya Diepkloof said the area is experiencing power supply outages due to the overloading of minisubs caused by illegal connections, meter bypasses and vandalism of the network.
Residents of Diepkloof zone 4 and 5 took it to the streets to express their grievances towards power outages in the area. These protest actions have become a norm in Soweto, especially during the winter season.
Gauteng Eskom spokesperson Reneiloe Semenya Diepkloof said the area is experiencing power supply outages due to the overloading of minisubs caused by illegal connections, meter bypasses and vandalism of the network.
Semenya said they are unable to send people in the area due to protest action in the area and added that the electricians will be sent in the area once the area is declared safe.

“We will not get into the area and replace the infrastructure without removing the illegal connections and the meters that a bypassed because if we were to replace any equipment’s without removing all the we will continue to experiencing equipment failures’,” emphasised Semenya.
She said Eskom must first conduct audits in the areas and to deal with all the causes of the outages and subsequently restore supply.
