Suspect arrested for various robberies at different areas in Johannesburg

A tip-off led to the manhunt and arrest.

Members of the South African Police and the JMPD k9 Unit successfully arrested a man for a series of robberies after getting a tip-off from the people.

Information was received by the Tracker Connect Unit about a group of suspects who have been responsible for various robberies in different areas of Johannesburg, Fordsburg, and Crown Mines.

The JMPD working together with the Tracker Connect Unit received the description and the type of the vehicle the alleged robbers were driving, the officers waited patiently for the car after being strategically placed on locations it has been said to often drive by.

The spokesperson for the JMPD, Wayne Minnaar explained that immediately after seeing the described Toyota RAV4, the officers attempted to stop it, but the suspected car speed off.

Minnaar said, “A high-speed chase took off and the suspects stopped their vehicle at Lilian Ngoyi Street and jumped out of the car to flee on foot.”

The chase paid off when the one suspect was arrested on the scene and it turned out that the suspect is connected to other many serious crimes and had been arrested previously for some of his crimes.

An Ak Rifle and a 9mm pistol with erased serial numbers to show their state of illegality with multiple caliber bullets were found and recovered from the scene along with hand gloves.

Minnaar said, “The suspects’ vehicle is also apparently wanted in connection with another case in Pretoria.

“Fortunately, no officers were injured during the arrest.”
