Winning the best upcoming male model title at the South African Model Awards for this year got Reginald Makeng from Protea Glen thrilled and assured of the fact that his gift is working.
Makeng, who happens to also be the overall winner for the Face of Devotion Mzansi 2019 won that title earlier this year before getting two different category nominations at the South African Model Awards, for the best male model and the one he won for the best upcoming model.
Makeng who had just received the news about his won title said, “I was so excited to know that I made it as the best upcoming model, and that opportunity gave me a realisation that what I am doing impacts the youth after me.”
The young model from Matatiele has always yearned to be independent and by the age of 16, he had started to be on his own, by the age of 23, the young model had about four titles in the pageant industry.

Makeng loves God and puts him first in all his endeavors, he has been willingly hands-on in many charity projects, he said, “A hand that gives is much more blessed and better off than the hand that always receives.”
The young model does not only have a face for television, but he is a great thinker as well, striving for his independence as a young South African from a tender age, Makeng said, “I am grateful to everyone who has shown me support, especially Oscar Mabuza, the founder for Face of Devotion and Leno Khwela for believing in me and always supporting my moves.”
The Best upcoming model title was one more achievement in the young models’ basket, he said, “I am very grateful for the best upcoming model award as it shows growth and innovation.”
Makeng, will be crowning the next and the second overall Face of Devotion winner at the finals on 12 December said, “People must support the youth trying to make a difference.”
