Run for mum this Mother’s Day

The first-ever 'Run for Mom' will be held on Mother's Day, May 9, and the team behind the run is excited for more to enter as the closing date is on Thursday, April 29.

The first-ever ‘Run for Mom’ will be held on Mother’s Day, May 9, and the team behind the run is excited for more to enter as the closing date is on Thursday, April 29.

The event aims at having participants honour and celebrates their mothers while running or walking the route and distance they have chosen as a family.
‘Run for Mom’ is a first in South Africa and unique among the few Mother’s Day events currently existing anywhere in the world. Everyone can share in the fun with all Mothers being the VIP of the day.

“We are blown away by the amount of interest we receive from the community and it confirms two facts; that Mom is love beyond measure and that everyone missed a real, intimate event during the Covid-19-pandemic,” said Leon Swanepoel, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Sportsvendo.

Run for Mom is the brainchild of Sportsvendo, the events company behind the well-known The Color Run Series and now equally successful Justice League Virtual Series.
On Mother’s Day, “Team Families” all over South Africa will be running and walking to honour and applaud their Moms with families as the event organisers. Every team that registers also receives an entry package that includes medals to a banner.

The Gold Medal goes to Mom and Silver Medals to the participants. As a family and team, participants can decide on the start and finish venue, decide on a family member’s residence, the distance, the route, and the award ceremony arrangements.

Mom receives a personalised certificate that will be e-mailed to the Team Family Captain, a special Collector’s Gold Medal, and a designer T-shirt. In addition to the Entry Pack, a WhatsApp message will be sent to Mom on the morning of the event as well as a virtual bunch of flowers to her e-mail address.
