Molise and Youngage to handover 100 school shoes

The handover will be held at Thlolohelo Lower Primary School in Moletsane, a school Molise herself attended.

Founder of the Youngage Foundation, Louisa Molise has revealed that the foundation will be donating 100 pairs of school shoes and Protective Personal Equipment (PPE) on June 3 – her birthday.

The handover will be held at Thlolohelo Lower Primary School in Moletsane, a school Molise herself attended.

“In terms of the date, we chose that date because it’s my birthday and I wanted to spend it giving something useful to kids. But in terms of the initiative itself, that is something we wanted to do and collaborated with various stakeholders to make it a reality. Covid has really hit families hard and some may not be able to afford these things. We cannot pretend to be blind to challenges that are facing our communities,” Molise said.

Sponsors for the event include Vutamenl, Mutualism SA, Teddy Bear Clinic, and the 100% Foundation. Molise thanked the sponsors for the support.

“We really couldn’t do it without the sponsors we have. I want to thank each and everyone one of our stakeholders who got involved with the project – you are the ones who make this possible,” she said.

Molise will also be joined by volunteers who are part of Youngage. She said she was proud to play a part in empowering youth.

“We’re fortunate enough to work with a few young people and provide them with a stipend. It’s part of empowering the youth and keeping them involved in positives spaces. It’s better for them to be here with us than be out on the streets, so I’m very happy with the young team I get to work with,” she said.

Due to covid regulations, the shoes will be handed over to learners in groups. Parents will also be invited to receive educational tips on the good maintenance of the shoes.

“Another important element is education. We involved parents because we need them to make sure that kids are protecting the shoes – I think that helps in making sure they last longer,” said Molise.

Beyond Thursday’s initiative, the Youngage Foundation has also set its sites on addressing bully amongst kids.
