Man hands over himself to Eldos police after stabbing victim to death

The suspect allegedly left after the altercation but later returned and started stabbing the victim on his right thigh with a knife.

On Saturday, August 13 at approximately 7.30 pm, members of Eldorado Park SAPS attended to a complaint of a death, at Ahmed Kathrada Lenmed Hospital.

“It is alleged that the deceased, a 32-year-old male who was taken for medical attention passed away upon arrival at the hospital, from a stab wound,” explained Sergeant Roxanne Gibb.

The Sergeant went on to further explaining that it is alleged that earlier on the same day the victim and suspect had an altercation whilst in Kersiedorp.

The suspect allegedly left after the altercation but later returned and started stabbing the victim on his right thigh with a knife.

The victim was thereafter taken to hospital where upon arrival, he succumbed to the injury sustained.

“The 44-year-old suspect later handed himself over to the Eldorado Park Police Station where he was detained for the charge of murder. The alleged weapon (okapie/knife) used to commit the offence was also handed in by the suspect, and will be used for further investigation purposes,” said Gibb.

The Station Commander, Brigadier Maluleke stated that residents should refrain from resorting to violence as resolutions to verbal altercations and misunderstandings among each other.

Residents should instead follow procedures that have been implemented to resolve all issues that need external intervention.

The Eldorado Park police further continues to encourage residents to continue reporting all crime and criminal activities to the SAPS Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111, the Eldorado Park SAPS on 011 9460300 or alternatively the Eldorado Park SAPS Relief Commander on 082 444 3001.
