Soweto man faces 10 years in prison for rape
According to the police report, the 42 year-old victim woke up in hospital after passing out.
Police in Dobsonville have secured a sentence of 10 years imprisonment after George Smith drugged and raped a 42-years-old woman in his shack at Sphiwe Village in 2021.

After two years of investigation and gathering of evidence, Smith was sentenced to 10 years direct imprisonment by the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court earlier this month, the police said.
According to the police report, the 42 year-old victim woke up in hospital after passing out.
Dobsonville police Spokesperson, Constable Vusi Thokwan explained, “It was alleged by the victim that she was having drinks with Smith when after two glasses she passed out and later woke up at Helen Joseph,” he said.
“Through investigation, it was discovered that the suspect sexually abused the victim while she was unconscious. It further states that they were found by the victim’s daughter who then alerted the local police for assistance,” Thokwan added.
