Change Starts Now launched a manifesto in Kliptown

This bold measure aims to bridge the gap between different sectors of society, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Newly formed political party, Change Starts Now launched its election manifesto on Monday at Walter Sisulu Square in Kliptown.

The party says it aims to implement change that will bring both rich and poor together to reduce SA’s issues.

Addressing the community of Soweto, president of Change Starts Now, Roger Jardine unveiled what he called an initiative of reconstruction and grow.

“This initiative suggests a transformative approach to mobilise significant resources around R500-billion – for economic revitalisation and social protection through a temporary three-year reconstruction tax,” said Jardine.

“Change Starts Now will create a fund dedicated to empowering individuals and communities while sparking job-driven economic growth. This initiative represents a collective commitment to an integrated and inclusive future, where every South African can thrive.”

In order to execute their vision, they are proposing, a wealth tax of 1.5% each year for three years, a corporate tax increase of 4.2%, for three years, an individual tax increase of 4.5% for three years for those earning more than R1.8-million a year, and a 1% annual charge on retirement funds for three years.

“By investing in social safety nets and economic opportunities, we will stimulate the economy and build a more just and equitable nation for all,” said Jardine.

As South Africans prepare to go to the polls this year, political parties are out and about trying to convince prospective voters to pick them at the ballots.

Residents of Soweto and surrounding areas came out in their numbers to listen to the promises of the new political party.

Young people listened as the leader of Change Starts Now detailed how they plan on investing in the education and training of the youth to secure the future of this country, economically and in terms of skills.
