SAPS arrest Eldos man for illegal gun

The Eldorado SAPS and Gauteng Traffic Wardens took an unregistered firearm off the streets in a crime prevention operation.

SAPS officers arrested a man at about 17:40 on Allie Lucas Street, Old Eldorado Park, on April 21.

The on-duty officers started the disruptive crime prevention operation at noon and later noticed a group of suspicious-looking men standing inside a yard on the same street.

As they approached them, a man from the group moved away upon seeing the police, holding on to something at his waist while trying to take it out.

Officers approached and searched him and found a silver 9mm firearm with live ammunition.

Eldos man nabbed for the possession of an unlicensed firearm.

They arrested and detained the man at the Eldorado Park SAPS cells for further investigation.

He will soon appear in the magistrate’s court.
