Informal trader arrested for drug possession in Pimville

JMPD Tactical Response Unit officers arrested an informal trader in Chicken Farm informal settlement after recovering suspected Mandrax and crystal meth during a patrol operation.

JMPD TRU officers were patrolling along Chris Hani Road when they were approached by a member of the public who alluded that there’s a man who is selling drugs at Chicken Farm informal settlement in Pimville.

The officers proceeded to the location and approached the man, who is an informal trader.

The man resisted being searched and attempted to flee, but was intercepted.

The suspect was found in possession of 48 cut Mandrax pills and 28 small bags of crystal meth.

“After a thorough search of his stall, a clear bag with 48 cut Mandrax pills and 28 small bags of crystal meth were recovered. The suspect was using the business of an informal trader selling snacks as a front to sell illegal substances.

“He was arrested and detained at Kliptown SAPS for possession of suspected illegal substances and resisting arrest,” said JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fitlha.
