Operation Shanela II leads to 32 arrests in Eldorado Park

A multidisciplinary operation in Eldorado Park has resulted in the arrest of undocumented immigrants and suspects for alleged drug possession.

A multidisciplinary Operation Shanela II was conducted in Eldorado Park recently, resulting in the arrest of 32 undocumented immigrants and four suspects for alleged possession of drugs.

The operation, led by Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Tommy Mthombeni, included roadblocks, patrols, stop-and-searches and liquor compliance inspections as part of ongoing crime prevention efforts.

According to the police, the operation forms part of wider provincial efforts to tackle crime and improve safety in communities.

During the first phase of the operation, provincial detectives also arrested 918 wanted suspects linked to serious and violent crimes during overnight suspect-tracing operations.
