Man faces murder charge after Rockville woman’s death

Yende faces a charge of murder following Mabua’s death on September 25.

Sizwe Nkululeko Yende (31) appeared before the Protea Magistrates’ Court on September 28 in connection with the alleged murder of 22-year-old Botshelo Mabua in Rockville.

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole, it is alleged that, during the early hours of the morning, Yende and Mabua became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into violence.

Mohlatlole further alleged that Yende pushed Mabua, causing her to hit her head against a corner.

He said during the ensuing struggle, Yende allegedly strangled Mabua, resulting in her death.

“Mabua was later found lying on the floor inside the residence and was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel,” he said.

Mohlatlole confirmed that following investigations, Yende was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

The matter has been postponed to October 2 for a formal bail application.

Yende remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
