Meet the selfless model from Pimville
Modelling is more than just about beauty; it is about serving your community and person growth.
Miss Heritage South Africa 2023 finalist from Pimville, Ntsako Chauke (23) talks about her beautiful journey as the finalist, shares what being a model has taught her. She also highlights the importance of taking a pause as a woman and choosing yourself.
It was in 2017 when Chauke began her modelling career after being persuaded by her sisters and community, since she has the height and body for it.
It later became more than just a passion driven by good body structure and beauty but by the love she has for helping those in need. It became a platform for personal growth which is aligned with who she is today, a philanthropist.

She explains how this pageant makes her feel at home compared to previous ones, “Miss Heritage South Africa 2023 feels like I have finally found my home.
“A pageant that truly understands what I stand for and they actually bring people that have the same dream. I advocate for skills development, I always say we all have something within us that makes us stand out.”

Due to her acquired skills from being a model, Chauke’s advocacy was derived from learn to do things on her own.
“I learned how to do make-up, nails and make wigs from scratch. Our skills can be part of our township economic growth. Young people can invest in their skills and create a name for themselves,” Chauke continues.
According to the finalist, it is important for women to take time away to rediscover themselves. It does not help being a powerhouse that cannot supply electricity to its own being.
“A lot of young women are not happy; they are just getting by because they do not give themselves time off to rest and reenergise. This is a time where we need to protect our peace and mental health,” Chauke explains.
We all need a break from time to time. Relaxing activities like walking, meditation and being in nature can improve well-being. Allow yourself time to do nothing and just be.
“Take a break, switch off your phone be unreachable until you feel like yourself again, the world will understand,” she advises.

Doing something that you love does not only benefit you but it makes you cognisant of the impact you have in your community.

Chauke explains what being a model in her community had taught her, “It made me die unto self because I realised that being quiet will not serve my purpose.
“There are girls that need to be reminded to believe in themselves and their capabilities.
“So, saying yes to modelling may have given a lot of young people in my community something to believe in,” she concluded.
We are three weeks away from the grand finale of Miss Heritage South Africa 2023, taking place in Johannesburg
