Doctor shot and killed in Dobsonville

The beloved doctor died of gunshot wounds in a ruthless and vicious robbery attack on February 25.

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety is the latest to condemn the recent tragic murder of Dr Michael Isabelle in Dobsonville.

The horrific death of Dr Isabelle sent shock waves in the medical frantity, and long time patients and community members.

Dr Isabelle died of gunshot wounds in a ruthless and vicious robbery attack on Saturday afternoon.

According to preliminary investigations, three armed suspects demanded electronics before opening fire when the doctor refuses to handover his laptop and phones to them.

“Three suspects entered the surgery under the pretense of seeking the doctor’s medical assistance.

“The receptionist let them inside the consultation room, and they reportedly shot the doctor,” said Police spokesperson Anthony Kholo.

The suspects are believed to have made away with two cellphones.

“During the process, the suspects took the complainant’s car keys and walk out of the surgery.

“While outside, they took the complainant’s vehicle, a black BMW 1Series registration No: BS 17FH GP which was parked outside,” added Kholo.

“The complainant immediately rushed to the doctor’s room and discovered that the doctor was shot multiple times,” he said.

The doctor was rushed to the Tshepo Themba Hospital , where he succumbed to injuries on Monday evening.

Police confirmed that a case of murder was being investigated however no arrests have been made.

The surgical practice located at Dobsonville Ext Two where Dr Isabelle had been operating remained closed.

“This heartbreaking incident serves as a sad reminder of the pervasive violence that plagues our communities, with innocent individuals bearing the brunt of heinous crimes.

“Despite concerted efforts by government and civil society to combat crime in Gauteng and across the nation, criminals continue to wreak havoc and instill fear among South Africans,” said Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Community Safety, Bandile Masuku.
