Eldorado Park killer cop case postponed
A 42-year-old police officer, accused of shooting and killing his 22-year-old girlfriend, will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court on January 6, 2025, after the case was postponed due to his hospitalization under police guard.
The court case against a 42-year-old Eldorado Park police officer, accused of fatally shooting his 22-year-old girlfriend with his service pistol on December 26, has been postponed to January 6, due to his hospitalization.
The court case, initially set for an earlier date, has been postponed to January 6, after the accused could not appear at the Protea Magistrates Court on December 30.

According to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), the officer is still in hospital under police guard after trying to commit suicide when he was arrested for the alleged murder of the girlfriend.
The incident occurred at the victim’s residence in Eldorado Park, following a domestic dispute.
The officer allegedly fired several shots through the window, killing his girlfriend.
He then fled the scene, but was later apprehended by authorities.
He is expected to appear at Protea Magistrates Court, on January 6.
