Use water sparingly this winter – Water Sanitation Department
The DWS reminds the public that South Africa is a water-scarce country and urges everyone to exercise strict water conservation to ensure water sustainability.
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) released its weekly state of reservoirs report on March 26, detailing the current water levels of dams in Mpumalanga.
The DWS urges the public to use water sparingly as we head into the dry winter season.
According to the report, current water levels are satisfactory. It indicated the average dam levels in the province have seen a slight increase from 99.3% to 99.4%.

The Gert Sibande District also recorded an increase in average water levels from 100.3% to 100.5%. Heyshope Dam remained unchanged at 101.0%, while Grootdraai Dam increased from 102.4% to 102.6%.
Vygeboom Dam increased from 100.3% to 100.9%. Morgenstond Dam saw an increase from 95.3% to 97.4%. Dams that recorded decreases include Nooitgedacht – from 100.4% to 99.5%, Jericho Dam – from 92.5% to 92.1% and Westoe Dam – from 99.9% to 99.6%.
