Soweto Kota Festival honours Mandela Day at Isaacson Primary School
Soweto Kota festival hosted and corporates with Richester and Puri-Hydrate as the sponsors of the day to celebrate the Mandela Day in Isaacson Primary School.
The Soweto Kota Festival, together with sponsors Richester Foods and Puri-Hydrate, celebrated Nelson Mandela Day with learners at Isaacson Primary School on July 24.
The event aimed to teach and remind learners about Nelson Mandela’s legacy and the importance of honouring the values he stood for.
Richester Foods donated sweets and stationery to the learners, while Puri-Hydrate provided drinking water for everyone attending the celebration.

Soweto Kota Festival founder Sidwell Tshingilane said the event was held to celebrate Mandela Day while also giving back to the local community.

“We decided to celebrate here because the school is close to Elkah Cricket Oval, where we will be hosting our event on September 5 and 6. In other words, we are giving back to the community because they always support us,” he said.

Tshingilane added that the sponsors played a significant role in making the day a success, particularly Richester Foods, which donated more than 300 goodie bags for the learners.
Isaacson Primary School principal Mokete Seetane said the school commemorates Mandela Day every year in recognition of the sacrifices made by the former president.
“This year we partnered with Richester Foods, which donated goodie bags for our learners,” he said.

Richester Foods brand manager Mbali Msimango said the company was pleased to be part of the initiative.
“Richester Foods produces sweets, chocolates and chewing gum, which children enjoy. We partnered with the Soweto Kota Festival after they chose this school for the Mandela Day celebration, and we wanted to do something that would make the learners happy,” she said.

Ward 33 Rockville community leader Ayanda Nyandeni said the celebration was especially meaningful as Isaacson Primary School is marking its 70th anniversary this year.
“We are happy to celebrate this special day with the school,” she said.
