Willow Crescent matric learners prepare for final NSC exams

Eldorado Park learners celebrated their last day of school before turning their attention to the 2026 matric examinations and future plans.

Matric learners from Willow Crescent Secondary School are ready for their final examinations after celebrating their last day of classes with T-shirt signing and singing activities on the school premises in Ext 3, Eldorado Park, on October 8.

Although matriculants have finished classes, they face the bigger task of preparing for their exams, which run from Tuesday, October 13, to Thursday, November 26.

The school T-shirts, which are usually white, were transformed into vibrant keepsakes, covered in signatures, farewell messages and artwork that could be mistaken for printed designs from afar.

Grade 12 learner Alexandre Hiebner said the teachers had motivated them to study throughout the school holidays.

“That is what we have been doing. Without overworking ourselves, because we deserve a holiday too, we spent just an hour or two studying every day during the holidays. But now the real work starts,” she said.

She said she had begun applying to study law at the Emeris Faculty of Law.

“I want to become a lawyer.”

Another learner and aspiring artist, Siyamthanda Nonxuna, who is known for her elegant singing voice at the school, said she had also applied to several universities with the help of her teachers.

“I am interested in the corporate world, but also my dreams are calling; I have a calling in music. I did not apply for any music courses because my plan is to study online and travel the world doing music while studying.”

Lenesha Loeberg said she had mixed emotions about leaving high school.

“It’s really exciting, but it’s kind of heartbreaking because we made a lot of good and bad memories. Our friendships were made here; bonds were built with classmates and teachers. We lost a few friends, but we gained more.”

Nonxuna said they had undergone significant character development while at the school and were excited about their next chapter.

“It’s very sad that we are leaving the school, but we are extremely excited. I hope that we maintain all the bonds we created with our friends and teachers throughout our lives.”

Gratitude to teachers

Khanyisile Mdluli and Jesmon Masondo wished all the matriculants well and expressed their gratitude to the teachers.

“To my teachers, I am grateful for every lesson and discipline you instilled in me. To juniors, be wise when choosing subjects,” said Mdluli.

Masondo added: “I also want to thank the teachers for always standing with us, even though we had our bad days.”
