FC Brugge U17s compete in tournament

Soccer fanatics excited by the game between Brugge and Pirates

Soccer fanatics were excited to host Club Brugge KV U17s in South Africa. The team arrived on South African soil on March 18 and competed against local teams in the Future Champions Tournament.

Their most notable match was against Pirates FC whom they beat 2-1 in a thrilling encounter on March 21.

Zayd Fredericks from Midas Youth Academy has been involved in cultivating a soccer field at the grounds adjacent to Eldorado Park Secondary (Blue School), and the delegation was responding to an invitation extended by Cedric Ranchod, director of sport at the Gauteng Department of Education.

Fredericks said, “We have asked for further interaction on coaching programmes and exercises between ourselves to remote coaching seminars via Skype as a way of strengthening local coaches in order to provide the best for our charges.”

The video interview available below shows FC Brugge U-17 coach Franky Pollentier discussing the strengths and weaknesses of the South African opposition and suggesting measures which could be introduced to strengthen their play.
