Christmas tea and cake for the elderly was served by the Yellow Roses who are a group of elderly residents in Riverlea.

On Wednesday, the Yellow Roses hosted their Christmas party at the Jordan House Old Age Home.

The Yellow Roses are a group of elderly people who has been hosting this Christmas party for the past 14 years.

“We believe that we are serving God’s people and this is why we try and help the privilege and unprivileged,” said Moore Johnson.

Jordan House has been going through financial problems for the past few months, according to the director Pearlene Meadows.

“Having the Yellow Roses come the Jordan House makes the residents of the home feel like they are appreciated,” said Meadows.

“Sometimes we feel like society has forgotten about us elderly people, but the Yellow Roses came and had Christmas party with us.

“This makes us feel appreciated,” said Lorna Tau a resident of Jordan House.

Resident enjoyed a plate of cake and tea that was donated by Yellow Roses and other donors like Checkers and Shoprite.

“Every member of the club donated a cake for this Christmas party to happen,” said Leonnora Starky the chairperson of Yellow Roses.

“I enjoyed the time we spent with the Yellow Roses and we appreciate all of the effort that they have put into this Christmas party,” said Teddy Bates.
