The Senior Citizens Social Club (SCSC) was formed in April 2010, by Joggera Van Niekerk to bring the Senior Citizens together for cake and tea and to socialize.
Members of the club are from Bosmont, Newclare, Fleurhof, Riverlea, Claremont, Westbury, Florida and Eldorado Park.
“When we started this club, we used to have our meeting place at the Bosmont Islamic Centre once a month. We now have our meetings at the Fleurhof Hall twice a month,” said Van Niekerk.
The club has 50 active members.
A boat trip is being planned for February 10 for four nights and five days.
“We are on a mission to raise funds to assist some seniors to go on holiday.
“We had a High Tea at the Fleurhof Hall and a dinner at the Chris J Botha School hall.
The next trip planned, would be a trip to Warmbaths later in 2014 after Ramadaan.
