A park in Geduld, Springs, next to the Olympia swimming pool, has gone on for months without having the grass mowed.
The grass has been uncut for a while and makes the place unsafe for people who pass there. It is also dangerous for children to play there.
On March 29, half the job was done at the park as there was some section which had been mowed. Large parts were, however, still not yet mowed. Even the mowed parts were not yet raked.

“Normally the grass is cut every month, however, it was not cut in February.
“They started last week to cut the grass and only got to this side this week.
“I once reported to the metro but was told that there was no money and that they were waiting for the budget adjustment, and now that it is after the budget adjustment, they have started cutting,” says Ward 74 Clr Thulani Simelane.
Andries Louw, a community member of Ward 74, says: “It is a concern that the grass would go for such a long time without being cut because it affects health, and children cannot play and people cannot come to chill at their nearest park.”

Despite giving the metro ample time to respond, at the time of going to print there was still no response.
