Lecturers off to China

Two lecturers from the Ekurhuleni East College (EEC) in Springs have been selected to represent their school and the country at a High Level Tourism Seminar in China.

Violet Matjile, the Head of Department for the social and creative department at EEC, and tourism lecturer Nkosingiphile Mbhamali will leave for China today (Friday) on an all-expenses paid trip and will return on September 20.

The pair was chosen to represent South Africa at the international seminar along with 18 other African delegates.

This experience will expose them to different kinds of tourism from various countries.

They have been tasked with doing a presentation at the seminar on the topic Tourism Information and Exploration in South Africa.

EEC principal Happy Sibande is very proud of Violet and Nkosingiphile and she expressed her confidence in them before wishing them a safe trip.

“We are very proud of our team, only two delegates were in line to be chosen from South Africa and from all the applicants, our lecturers were chosen. This means that we must be doing something right,” she said proudly, during the team’s farewell lunch on Tuesday.

For Nkosingiphile, the idea of standing in front of strangers and giving them a taste of our beautiful country is exciting.

“This is a chance of a lifetime and great opportunity for me. I am ready to represent my school, my country and mostly my community,” she said.
