House robbed in Reedville

A house was broken into in Reedville in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora a man and his wife were asleep in their house in Santo Domingo Lane in Reedville at the time of the break-in.

“The man woke up from a noise in the kitchen and called his son as he assumed it was him in the kitchen,” says Capt Ramphora.

After not getting an answer from his son, he got up to investigate. At that moment a robber entered his room and pointed a firearm at him.

The robbers, one armed with a firearm and two with knifes, tied up the man and his wife.

While one of the robbers guarded them, the other two went to the kitchen.

They stole two laptops, a cellphone, wedding band and cash, took the man’s car keys and drove away in his blue VW Golf 1.

No arrests have been made and no shots were fired.

Anyone with information can contact the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19 or Capt Ramphora on 079 694 6936.
