SPCA in need after robbery

The Springs SPCA was robbed in the early hours of the morning on November 22.

According to manager of the Springs SPCA Celeste Kleyn, the robbers gained access to the building through the roof.

“They pulled our alarm systems right out. Once they were inside, they removed a pane of glass to get out and broke the locks on the entrance gate.”

Celeste says they took the entire safe from the office which contained the title deeds to the property.

Along with the safe, the robbers took brand new gardening equipment and a very expensive knife used for the slaughtering of cattle.

“The matter is still under investigation. A case of theft has been opened,” says Springs Police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora.

As the SPCA is a non profit organisation, this is a hard hit for them and they are asking for help from the community so they can get the roof and pane of glass fixed.

They are also desperate to find the title deeds of the property and ask if anyone sees title deeds lying around, to take them to the SPCA on Ermelo Road.
