EMPD makes an arrest

A man was arrested by a metro police official for a house break-in last Wednesday.

According to metro officer Louis Els he received a complaint about a break-in in Sondag Avenue, Petersfield Extension.

Upon arrival they found the man still in the house.

He ran away and jumped over the palisade fence with the officer and community members chasing him down the road.

“We eventually caught up with him, found him in possession of stolen goods and arrested him,” says Els.

On their way to the Springs Police Station, the robber jumped out of the vehicle and ran away again.

Another chase started, this time with Els and the Petersfield Extension’s CPF after him.

Els says they searched the area for about 20 minutes.

They found the robber hiding behind a wall in Vaal Road, and made another arrest.

He was taken to the police cells and will appear in court soon.
