André Alberts says he reported both the leaks to the metro several times, but nothing has come of it.
On the corner of Stoffberg Road and Omega Avenue, clean water is leaking from a water meter.
A little further down Omega Avenue, there is a blocked drain leaking where water accumulates because the ground is saturated.
He blames the metro for the death of his chickens because they drink the dirty drain water and then die.
The metro, according to Alberts, allegedly worked on the leaks more than three months ago, but did not replace the manhole and water meter covers.
Alberts says he does not know why residents have to report the same incident more than once, where maintenance seriously needs attention.
“The metro needs to fix the problem as soon as possible as the rotten drain water might push up to the level of the leaking water meter and contaminate it,” he adds.
No comment was received from Ekurhuleni Metro at the time of going to press.
