Golf day fund raiser in aid of disabled boy

A golf day fundraising event will be held at Springs Country Club on October 19.

The day is in aid of Dylan Jenkins (17) who was born 29 weeks into pregnancy and as a result, his lungs were not properly developed.

Dylan was pronounced severely handicapped, both mentally and physically.

This involved an onset of seizures, hernia operations and choking episodes.

David Jenkins, Dylan’s father and lifetime resident of Springs, took the responsibility of raising Dylan alone.

He cared for his son at night after working a full daytime job.

David died at the age of 41, 31 days after being diagnosed with cancer and Dylan was left at the Avril Elizabeth Home in Germiston where he now resides.

Dylan needs daily physio, speech and occupational therapy sessions and many visits to doctors and specialists and struggles to eat without a feeding tube.

The Team Dave Trust is holding this fundraiser where all the proceeds will go into a trust of which Dylan is the sole beneficiary.

Wendy Kay, Dylan’s grandmother and founder member of the trust, says “Team Dave will be hosting a four ball golf day and we invite your company to either sponsor a hole where you are welcome to advertise or help us to get prizes together to hand out at the prize giving.”
