Awards for helping others lose weight

Better health is the reason for losing weight.

A local dietitian received two top awards from her franchise for her work in Springs.

Riekie Pëtersen of Selcourt received the award for the clinic that had the best overall weight loss for last year.

She was also the runner-up for the top clinic, out of the 30 clinics around the country.

Riekie, who has been running a clinic such as this one in Springs for 16 years says she loves to help people lose weight because this weight loss changes their lives.

She has been in Springs since January 2013 and has already helped 518 people in their quest to lose weight.

Although it is mostly women who have the desire to shed their extra kilograms, men also ask for help in weight loss.

She says the reasons for people asking for help in losing weight is to have a better heath and an improved quality of life.

Her work is to teach people to eat the right food and her job satisfaction comes when she sees how illnesses disappear when someone’s eating habits changes.

She always advises people to avoid processed food and eat proteins, fruit and vegetables.

The wrong food is, according to Riekie, the reason why people get cancer.

She says eating the processed food and obesity also causes diabetics, heart problems, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, acid reflux, and osteo-arthritis.
