Men inject themselves in broad daylight

Staff of the Springs Advertiser were shocked when a drug fix took place in front of their eyes on Tuesday morning.

We took photographs of two men after two Addie staff members witnessed them injecting themselves.

They were sitting on the open landing of the building opposite the Addie in Eighth Street and according to the witnesses they openly injected themselves, while motorists and even a police van passed by.

After both men, who appeared to be in their 20s, injected themselves they milled around for a few minutes, took the trolley with paper they had with them and left.

They left behind rubble and the rubber bands they used whilst injecting themselves.

Within minutes after they left another man sat smoking at the same spot.

The Springs SAPS did send someone out within minutes of the Addie’s telephone call, but did not find anyone at this spot.
