When a Dersley family arrived home on Sunday after returning from holiday, three armed men tied them up and stole two of their vehicles.
The man parked his white For Ranger on his premises when he was surprised by an armed suspect wearing a balaclava, opening the driver’s side door.
The man’s wife noticed two more armed suspects both wearing balaclavas approaching her side of the vehicle.
Springs police official Amanda Greybe, says the family was ordered to get out of the vehicle and hand over the house keys and the keys of the Ford Focus that was parked on the premises.
The armed suspects took the family into the house, where their hands and feet were tied up.
One of the suspects was guarding the family, while the other two suspects searched the house.
Greybe says they suspects took various items from the house including cellphones, a knife, a camera, clothing and a TV.
One of the suspects got into the get away car, a gold Mercedes Benz.
They took off with the stolen items and both the Ford Ranger and Ford Focus.
All three vehicles were recovered on Sunday in KwaThema.
No arrests have been made.
