Dagga found during joint operation in Springs

Drugs and stolen cellphones were seized during a police operation in Springs, on Thursday (April 23).

The operation was conducted by members of the Springs SAPS, the SAPS Flying Squad, and the EMPD K9 Dog Unit.

Several addresses in the CBD, Oranjehof and Springs Extension were searched.

Dogs from the K9 Unit detected drugs in some of the houses.

Springs police spokesman Amanda Greybe says 506.6 grams of dagga was found hidden in a house in Springs Extension.

The dagga has a street value of R3 000.

One man was arrested in Oranjehof after 835.7 grams of dagga was found in his possession.

Another man was arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods, after police found two stolen cellphones in his possession.

Both men are aged between 30 and 39 years.

Three illegal immigrants (ages unknown) were also arrested.

Greybe says police means business and will do everything in their power to eradicate drugs from the streets
