N17 accident claims six lives
Two light motor vehicles collided head-on at the N17 Nigel/Delmas crossing at 11.30pm on Saturday (April 25).
The accident left six people dead and one seriously injured.
According to Rescue 24 Ambulance Services paramedic Andre Momberg more than one person was ejected from the vehicles.
The five occupants of one vehicle, two woman and three men, and the male occupant of the other vehicle, were declared dead on the scene.
The only survivor of the accident, a woman, sustained serious injuries.
She was stabilised and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The accident took place along a dark stretch of the road, and it is believed the road surface was wet due to the rain.
The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, provincial ambulance and Rescue 24 ambulance services were on the scene to assist where possible.
