Alleged stolen vehicle recovered in Selcourt

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department's speedy reaction to a call ended in the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle in Selcourt yesterday (May 20).

EMPD officer Louis Els followed up on information received from the Selpark CPF at 9pm, about a suspicious-looking vehicle parked at the corner of Wit and Rhokana roads.

Els found the unoccupied white Mercedes Benz Sprinter, and upon investigation, discovered the vehicle’s registration number was false.

He says the registration belongs to a Toyota Corolla in Pretoria.

Els discovered that the licence disc, and engine and VIN numbers, were also false.

The vehicle was taken to the SAPS Vehicle Theft Unit in Benoni for further investigation.

The scene was cleared at approximately 2am this morning (May 21).
