While a worker was locking the door at the main entrance of the club, he was approached by five robbers wearing balaclavas and gloves.
One of the robbers was armed with a silver gun and demanded money from the worker.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says the worker informed the robbers that the money and bar keys are kept in a drop safe.
The worker was ordered to accompany the robbers to the bar, where he watched them remove the receiver aerial from the alarm system.
Ramphora says the robbers broke two big windows and cut the security door open with a grinder to gain entry to the bar.
They took a TV, amplifier, computer box and a Free State Cheetahs rugby jersey hanging on the wall.
The robbers left the worker at the back of the premises, where they then jumped the wall.
Ramphora says the robbers took the worker’s sim card from his phone.
The value of the stolen goods is approximately R20 000 and damages to the building is estimated at R10 000.
No shots were fired.
