Hot water at last
Several Presidentia residents have been without hot water since the beginning of July.
According to Presidentia caretaker, Petra Verwey, one of the residents’s geyser was only fixed last week after the problem was reported in July.
“That means this senior citizen was without hot water for more than seven weeks,” she says.
With 11 solar geysers not working, Verwey reported the problem to the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s housing department for repairs.
She says she reported it continuously.
Some of the geysers were fixed within a day after being reported, while others took much longer.
Verwey claims there is still one house without hot water.
“I reported the faulty geyser on September 15 and it has still not been fixed,” she says.
Metro spokesman, Themba Gadebe, says the metro’s energy department, which is responsible for repairing the solar geysers, has been notified and will attend to the reported geyser soon.
“We encourage residents to report all housing-related problems to the Springs Human Settlements Department office or alternatively the Metro Call Centre on 086 054 3000,” he adds.
