The owner of the car was driving in Rarane Street when a white VW Polo stopped in front of his vehicle, forcing him to stop.
Springs police spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora says two men jumped out of the Polo and approached the driver of the Hyundai.
One of the hijackers was armed with a gun and ordered the driver out of the car.
The hijackers then fled – one in the Hyundai and the other in the Polo.
Ramphora says the owner claims his vehicle is worth R189 000.
