Caroling into the night

A wonderful evening was had by all at the annual East Rand Stereo and The Avenues Shopping Centre's Carols by Candlelight evening on Friday.

“A very big thank you to Ronell Erasmus, Bernice Borman and Danie van der Westhuizen for a great performance,” says Carolynn Weedon, who took part in organising the event.

She wishes to congratulate David Sklar who won the R20 000 bursary from Boston College as well as all the other winners.

Money collected during the evening was donated to the Springs SPCA.

Springs residents came out in full force, making sure they brought along their own chair, they settled in for a night of Christmas spirit.

An estimated 1 700 people attended this year’s function.

Father Christmas was on hand to have family photos taken while the Buskers dressed as a Christmas tree and made balloon animals for all the children.

Shireen the Elf transformed the children’s faces into a wonderland of imagination as she colourfully painted their faces with, among other things, butterflies.

“Thank you to Neville Burr-Dixon and his team from East Rand stereo for making this event such a success,” she concludes.
