EMPD member killed at Aston Lake

An EMPD member's body was found at Ashton Lake on today (Wednesday).

The man went fishing at 7am.

Capt Johannes Rampohora, Springs police spokesman, says an employee at Aston Lake found the body of a man at 2.30pm, lying in the grass.

“The deceased was lying on his back and had stab wounds on the left side of his upper body,” he says.

The employee immediately called the police and ambulance services.

The paramedics declared the man dead on the scene.

Upon further investigation the police found there was a struggle between the deceased and his attacker and that a sharp object was used to stab the deceased.

Ramphora says the deceased’s cellphone was missing.

No arrests has been made and a case of murder was opened at the police station.
