The driver and a passenger of a Mercedes-Benz Vito were driving in Welgedacht Road, towards the CBD, at 7.30am when they noticed a white Ford Focus fitted with blue lights following them.
The two were on their way to deliver tablets worth R900 000, but the destination is not known.
According to Capt Johannes Ramphora, Springs police spokesman, the driver pretended he turned left to go to the police station, but the Focus swerved in front of the Vito and stopped.
Three armed men, one wearing a bulletproof vest, approached the driver and passenger and pulled them out of the vehicle.
Ramphora says the two victims were taken to the Focus where they were ordered by the suspects, all wearing gloves, to stay down.
Both vehicles left the scene and when the suspects reached Daveyton, they stopped both vehicles, ordered the victims to get out of the Vito and tied their hands.
“The suspects ordered the victims to get in to the boot of the Focus and drove off with them still in the boot,” says Ramphora.
He says the victims claim the suspects drove around for a while before they stopped again.
The victims were ordered to get out of the vehicle and were left stranded after the suspects left the scene in both vehicles.
“The two victims walked to a nearby school to seek help,” he says.
The vehicle was recovered in Etwatwa on the same day.
