Capt Johannes Ramphora, the Springs Police spokesman, says Sika was convicted of raping a Slovo Park woman in January.
Sika and another suspect, who is still at large, hit the woman over the head with a bottle and ran away after they had raped her.
Ramphora says the woman recognised Sika and called the police, who arrested him the day after the incident.
“We are still looking for the other suspect,” he says.
Sika will serve his sentence at Modderbee Prison.
